Training, mentorship and outreach shape the 2026 programme

The Fante Wikimedians Community’s 2026 programme places volunteer development at the centre of its work. Training, mentorship, outreach and regular opportunities to practise are designed as connected parts of a pathway rather than isolated events.

Training sessions introduce participants to core Wikimedia skills, including account setup, editing, references, copyright, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata. Practical exercises help contributors understand both the technical steps and the community standards that protect the quality of free knowledge.

Why this matters

Mentorship extends learning beyond the workshop. New editors often need support when they encounter warnings, formatting challenges or questions about whether a source is reliable. Office hours and follow-up communication give them a place to ask for help and continue contributing with confidence.

Outreach activities connect the programme with schools, institutions, media organisations and local communities. These relationships can bring new participants into Wikimedia while helping the community identify knowledge gaps and people with subject expertise.

Looking ahead
